Twenty million deaf people in the European Community who need some support towards their social and economic well-being, are unique in having specific communication needs. These needs are mainly visual as opposed to aural. Therefore, traditional foreign language teaching methods, which rely heavily on the aural and phonetic modes, are not appropiate for them. This package offers resources in four languages: BSL, LSF, English and French. The method by which the materials have been designed should facilitate the inclusion of the languages of other member states in the future.
