Video Relay Service (VRS) “interpreting” in the United States is today a billion-dollar industry, regulated by the FCC. In this chapter, the role of the interpreter in the VRS industry is explored through a form of narrative inquiry. Deaf people around the world have suffered pervasive and negative consequences as a result of the for-profit model of VRS in the United States.
