The aim of this paper is to provide an account of some of the ways in which time can be expressed in British Sign Language. In fact, information about time can be encoded in so many different ways that at least part of the exercise here will be to separate out the individual time-systems and then to see how systems can be overlaid upon one another to build up highly complex temporal information.
