The assertion of Deaf cultural identity, minority rights and indigenous self-determination in recent decades has created a platform from which Deaf people of ethnic minority family heritage have begun to voice their multilayered experiences of cultural socialization and identity (Ahmad et al. 1998; Foster and Kinuthia 2003; Humphries 1993; McKay-Cody 1998 /1999; Morales-López et al. 2002; Parasnis 1996; Paris and Wood 2002).
